Analysis of a morlam song (Isan)
I've been working on a full translation of รักบ่าวอีสานใต้ by Jintara Poonlarp – a beautiful song that mixes Thai, Isan, and Khmer. I started with a first draft using my own tool, Thai Flash, which gives phonetic transcription and translation.
The phonetic transcription was fine!... But as you know, automatic translation tools struggle with dialect and cultural context.
Fortunately, Thai Flash comes with a word-by-word analysis feature. So I went through it, corrected a few things, and added cultural notes. You can see the result below.
